Jenny Raymond was born in the great state of Texas but is a heart and soul Cornhusker from Gothenburg, Nebraska. Her love of fabric was instilled at an early age as she played with scraps at her mother's feet. Fashion design started with doll clothes and evolved into a 30 year career in dressmaking and design. She discovered her love for quilting during the nine years she owned a fabric store.
Jenny's knowledge of clothing construction and her excitement for quilting are easily recognized in her workshops, lectures and trunk shows. Her strengths in quilting include color, piecing, design and a desire to be genuinely involved with those who take a workshop or attend a lecture.
In 2003 her book, “Creative Techniques for Wearable” was published and she has a pattern line under the Patchworki label. She won the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship to the European Quilt Expo in April 2004 and won the 2004 Viking International Fashion Showcase Art Award while at Quilt Expo for “Asian Melody/Under the Sea. This award is given to one American quilt teacher every two years by Quilts, Inc. in Houston, TX. Her responsibility for winning this award was to design a quilt and develop a workshop around this quilt. “Sunset over Keukenhof Garden” was the result. Workshops were taught in Nebraska and Texas and nine quilters from these workshops were selected to be in a Special Exhibit “Celebrate Holland” at the 2005 Houston Quilt Festival. Jenny was responsible for hanging three quilts for this exhibit and the two other quilts were “A Dutch Still Life” and “A Celebration of Delft. Her quilts along with those of her students can be seen on the Gallery Page. Jenny was invited to design for the prestigious Fairfield Fashion Show. Those ensembles included: 1994 "Starlight Rhapsody," 1995 "Joseph's Jubilation, Splendeur of Galaxias," "Arabesque," was designed for the coveted 20th Anniversary Fairfield Show. “From Nebraska with Love” was designed for the first Bernina Fashion Show in 2001. For the 2002 Bernina Fashion Show she presented “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend,” the winner of the Viewer’s Choice Award. Her 2005 Bernina Fashion show ensemble “A Walk in the Garden” further celebrated her trip to Quilt Expo and she was delighted to receive an invitation to create another ensemble for the 2006 Bernina Fashion Show. Jenny is married to Bob, a self-employed CPA and has three children, Jeff married to Julie, Mary Karol married to Craig McGee, and Sara. The “Shining Stars” in her life, are granddaughters, MaKayla and Maddie and grandson, David. Jenny enjoys her Golden Retriever, Micah, two "granddogs", and a backyard full of birds. Her other interests include her flowers, church work, vocal and instrumental music and "living the Good Life in Nebraska." Jenny delights in working with guilds around the country and sharing her talents and ideas with others .
